Get ready for the future of wireless technology! Las Vegas is on the cutting edge with their plans to bring new technology to the metaverse. And a company called Ixana may have found the key to efficient power for this new generation of personal devices. They are set to unveil a developer platform at CES 2023 that will allow others to create applications for their technology. The unique aspect of Ixana’s innovation is the method of information transmission: through the human body and its electromagnetic field. This new technology, called Wi-R, utilizes the body’s natural ability as a conductor and can transmit data using a fraction of the energy of conventional wireless connections like WiFi or Bluetooth. The potential uses for Wi-R are endless, including the metaverse, augmented reality, virtual reality, and internet-based immersive digital worlds. Are you excited for the possibilities of Wi-R and the future of wireless technology?

Las Vegas is determined to bring new wireless technology to the metaverse’s future, and it will take something sleeker than today’s virtual reality headsets to do it. While regular glasses would be the ideal choice for an always-on digital experience, the harsh reality is that bulky batteries and power-hungry processors either compromise features or add extra bulk.

Enter Ixana, a relatively new company that claims to have found a way to build a new generation of personal devices that are much more power efficient than current headsets. The company is set to unveil a developer platform at CES 2023, inviting others to start developing applications for its technology. The core of Ixana’s innovation is a new method of information transmission: through the human body itself.

Not the body itself, but the electromagnetic field surrounding it. Wi-R, Ixana’s technology, takes advantage of the body’s natural ability as a conductor. Any device, whether held or worn, has the power to efficiently transmit data over this field. According to Ixana, Wi-R uses one-hundredth of the energy used in conventional wireless connections like WiFi or Bluetooth.

But why does this technology power the metaverse? It can be used in the metaverse, as well as in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality, and internet-based immersive digital worlds. Augmented reality plays a crucial role in the metaverse, enhancing the visual experience and allowing users to feel and create visual stimuli.

The idea behind the technology’s power in the metaverse is that you could have a smartphone in your pocket with a good battery system and a powerful processor to transmit data across the surface of your body and power a headset on your face without you feeling a thing. According to Ixana, Wi-R technology is capable of simultaneously pushing four compressed high-definition video streams.

At CES, CoinDesk tested out Wi-R technology by wearing Wi-R headphones and moving their hands closer to a special cell phone. They were able to clearly hear music playing from the phone, and when they moved their hand away from the phone case, the music stopped. This may not seem impressive until you realize that neither the phone case nor the headphones were connected via any form of wireless connection — the data was transmitted entirely through the electromagnetic field.

Ixana wants you to envision the kind of connection you can carry with you in video, VR, AR, and beyond. Imagine everything from your smartwatch to your sunglasses continuously talking to each other without ever using a radio.

However, there are some issues that Wi-R technology can’t solve. Screens and haptics require a lot of energy, and you can’t just move the battery to another part of your body.

As we’ve seen, the potential for Wi-R technology is vast and could revolutionize the way we experience the digital world. But what do you think? Are you excited for the possibilities of Wi-R and the future of wireless technology?
